Live Scanner Filters
The Live Scanner filters help you cut through 600+ symbols and surface the ORB setups that match your trading criteria. With data refreshing every 2 seconds, filters let you zero in on high-probability breakouts without scrolling through endless results.
How Scanner Filters Work
Every filter you apply narrows your results in real-time. The scanner pulls from 150,000+ historical setups and 1.6M backtested trades to calculate win rates, expectancy, and trailing P/L for each breakout. Filters let you set minimum thresholds so only the setups that meet your standards appear.

Available Filters
Symbol List
Choose which symbols the scanner monitors. You have three options:
- All Symbols: Scan the full universe of 600+ stocks and ETFs
- Pre-made Watchlists: Use curated lists like SPY components, high-volume movers, or sector-specific groups
- Custom Watchlists: Load your own watchlists with unlimited symbols
Custom watchlists are useful when you want to focus on a specific set of tickers you already trade or research.
Win Rate
Set a minimum historical win rate percentage. The scanner only shows breakouts where the backtested win rate meets or exceeds your threshold.
For example, setting a 55% minimum filters out any setup with a historical win rate below that level. This is especially helpful during high-activity periods when multiple breakouts trigger at once.
Expectancy
Filter by minimum trade expectancy. Expectancy measures the average profit or loss you can expect per trade based on historical data. A positive expectancy indicates an edge over time.
Use this filter to focus on setups where the math works in your favor, not just those with high win rates but poor risk/reward.
Trailing P/L
Set a minimum trailing profit/loss threshold. This metric shows how much profit a setup would have captured if you held beyond the initial target.
Trailing P/L helps you identify breakouts with momentum potential beyond the standard target levels.
Breakout Direction
Filter by long breakouts, short breakouts, or both. This is useful if you only trade one direction or want to see both sides of the market during your session.
ORB Range
Select your preferred opening range timeframe:
- 5-minute ORB: Fastest breakouts, higher frequency, tighter ranges
- 15-minute ORB: Balanced between speed and range development
- 30-minute ORB: Wider ranges, fewer false breakouts, later entries
Each timeframe produces different setup characteristics. The 5-minute range triggers earliest but may have more false breakouts. The 30-minute range develops later but typically offers more reliable levels.
Target Size
Choose your profit target calculation:
- Half-range target: Profit target set at 50% of the opening range width
- Full-range target: Profit target set at 100% of the opening range width
Half-range targets get hit more often but capture less profit per trade. Full-range targets require more follow-through but offer larger gains when they work.
Stop Size
Select your stop-loss calculation:
- Half-range stop: Stop placed at 50% of the opening range from entry
- Full-range stop: Stop placed at 100% of the opening range from entry
Your stop size affects both your risk per trade and your win rate. Tighter stops get stopped out more often but limit losses when wrong. Wider stops give trades more room but increase risk per position.
Using Filters Together
Combine multiple filters to build a scan that matches your trading style. A few examples:
- High-probability focus: Set win rate above 55%, expectancy positive, 15-minute ORB only
- Aggressive morning scalps: 5-minute ORB, half-range targets, all directions
- Conservative setups: 30-minute ORB, full-range targets, win rate above 60%
The scanner applies all active filters simultaneously. Results update every 2 seconds as new breakouts trigger or existing setups hit targets.
Tips for Filter Settings
- Start broad, then narrow: Begin with minimal filters to see what is available, then add criteria to focus your results
- Match filters to your strategy: If you trade reversals, focus on direction filters. If you prioritize edge, lean on win rate and expectancy
- Watch the trade count: Too many filters may leave you with zero results. Find the balance between selectivity and opportunity
- Save your configurations: Once you find filter combinations that work, save them as custom presets for quick access
Filters exist to help you find the right setups faster. Experiment with different combinations to match your trading approach and risk tolerance.
